The commander-in-chief attempted to embarrass his oldest daughter on the Fourth of July.

President Barack Obama attempted to embarrass his oldest daughter, Malia Obama, on the Fourth of July, which also happens to be her 18th birthday.

Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe performed at the White House on America's birthday, but they weren't the only ones to showcase their singing skills.

"And just because it's a job of a father to embarrass his daughters, I've got one last job," the president announced at the festivities. "It just so happens that we celebrate our country's birthday on the same day that we celebrate my oldest daughter's birthday."

Malia then joined her dad onstage while he sang her "Happy Birthday."

The first family's Fourth of July party also included a stunning fireworks display, and Lamar and Monae performing their hits. The rapper kicked off the celebration with songs "Swimming Pools, "B**ch, Don't Kill My Vibe" and "Alright," while Monáe sang a few of her singles as well as Prince's "Let's Go Crazy."
