The 'Work' singer stars in the first music video to ever premiere in IMAX theaters, off the 'Star Trek Beyond' soundtrack.
Is Rihanna the villain in Star Trek Beyond? Because if Rihanna is the villain in Star Trek Beyond, we will see Star Trek Beyond on opening night. But if Rihanna is not playing the villain in Star Trek Beyond, then this is one big tease and someone needs to be fired.
BadGalRiRi, the Frank Sinatra of our generation, premiered her music video for "Sledgehammer," a track off the movie's soundtrack, on Thursday. In it, she plays some sort of tattooed space witch with powers to do…well, we're not quite sure! But they sure do look nifty!
"Sledgehammer" was penned by Sia -- which you could probably tell, because it sounds exactly like a Sia song -- and is the first music video to ever premiere in IMAX theaters. If the RiRi-Star Trek pairing seems random, the 28-year-old pop star says it is "something that has been a part of me since my childhood."
"Star Trek has been a part of my life since I was a little girl. My dad really is the one who introduced me to Star Trek," she explained in a featurette for the film. "It just took me one episode to fall in love with this other world that I couldn't understand but I felt like I could relate to."
