The Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig reboot got a rocking reboot of the original song, too!
Thank Slimer that Missy Elliott is somehow involved with the Ghostbusters reboot.
Director Paul Feig promised the franchise's iconic theme song would be getting a reboot of its own and now it's here: Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott cameos on Fall Out Boy's rollicking remake -- oh, and yes, they kept the lyric, "Bustin' makes me feel good."
EXCLUSIVE: Paul Feig Says There Won't Be Any 'Dress Shopping Montages' in the 'Ghostbusters' Reboot
If you need a refresher on Ray Parker, Jr.'s 1984 version -- fair warning: it will get stuck in your head for the rest of the day -- you could listen to the album version OR you can watch his performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! while Melissa McCarthy and the new Ghostbusters join Bill Murray and the O.G. 'Busters for a dance party.
So, Fall Out Boy's take isn't the original...but it clearly wasn't trying to be! And we're never mad about more Missy in our lives! (The Ghostbusters
soundtrack, which also features tracks by Elle King, rapper G-Eazy and Zayn, will be released on July 15.)
That said, we are disappointed we didn't get the theme song the cast promised us when ET visited the set.
Kristen Wiig: "Kate plays the flute."
Kate McKinnon: "It's the piccolo, thank you."
Leslie Jones: "Triangle."
McCarthy: "I play jazz sax."
Wiig: "I just spin around. I'll only be useful in the video. I just spin in circles."
McKinnon: "So, we've recorded something and we're showing it to Paul later. We'll see what he says."
McCarthy: "She does jazz triangle, [points to herself] jazz sax, [points to McKinnon] piccolo, and [Wiig spins] if she had the right shoes on, put some breadcrumbs down, you hear the crunching. It's almost percussion."
Wiig: "My percussion is me eating. Just crunching."
