ET caught up with the Irwin family at the Steve Irwin Gala at L.A. Live on Saturday.
Bindi Irwin has a great support system.
The wildlife conservationist raved about her family, time on Dancing With the Stars and her pro wakeboarder boyfriend Chandler Powell at the Steve Irwin Gala at L.A. Live on Saturday, calling the pro wakeboarder "one of the kindest people I've ever met."
"He's actually right over there in the little cocky bowtie," the 17-year-old TV personality told ET's Denny Directo at the event, addressing how the couple has been adjusting to making more public appearances. "He's usually outside running around, so this is kind of new, but luckily he had some experience with his wakeboarding work. But we're getting there!”

"He's a very patient person and just loves wildlife and conservation," Bindi added. "It's great to be able to find somebody that shares the same values."
Ever since taking home the DWTS mirror ball trophy last year, Bindi shared that visiting America has been more like a (second) homecoming experience than a vacation.
"It's amazing to be back here in L.A.. because it does feel like a second home," she said. "We love it so much. I feel like I've gained this whole second family. For us, to be able to celebrate dance, life, legacy, and message right here in L.A. with so many people that we love, it is a really big night for me, because I do have so many friends and family with me.”

And yes, she is keeping up on the current season of DWTS.
"Nyle [DiMarco] is insanely good,” she told ET. “How does he do that? And then also seeing him dance blindfolded was mind boggling."
"And, of course, Val and Ginger are incredible," she continued. "Ginger is the most amazing mom on planet Earth."
