The cast of 'Civil War' had some deep conversation over dinner during all-new 'Chelsea.'
Chelsea Handler welcomed Captain America: Civil War stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp and Frank Grillo over to her house for wine dinner and some deep conversation on Friday's episode of her Netflix talk show, Chelsea.
Handler was the first to admit she knew absolutely nothing about comic books or superheroes, which may have been one reason the stars were able to move away from talking about the new Marvel epic and onto topics such as gender inequality in show business.

"Everyone who has this dialog about disparity and everything, I feel as a woman I hate discussing it over and over again," Handler shared with her dinner guests. "I'd rather act it out and not discuss it."
VanCamp, who plays Sharon Carter -- a.k.a. Agent 13 -- in Civil War, appreciated Handler's point, but argued that the conversation about the presence of a systemic wage gap is vital for fighting against it.
"To instill that change you have to have the dialog and say it," VanCamp offered. "Some of these actresses are getting paid loads of money [but] they're allowed to say, 'I want equal pay.'"

Evans, who stars as the eponymous Captain America, echoed VanCamp's concerns and explained that it's up to male actors to join the conversation against gender disparity.
"You can't stick your head in the ground like that," Evans said. "Being a guy, it's a radically different landscape. I think there is a gender gap that is ubiquitous in Hollywood, and I think a lot of times it's hard to even identify."
For Evans, the inequality doesn’t stop at the omnipresent wage gap either, but in the very way movies and television shows are structured and cast.
"It's not even about the contracts [or pay]. If you look at that project there's probably about nine roles guy roles and one girl role," Evans explained. "So even before you get to the point of money there's already an issue going on underneath."

Evans' Avengers co-star, Jeremy Renner, took some heat last year when he took a somewhat different stance on the issue of Hollywood's gender issues, telling Business Insider that fighting the wage gap is "not my job."
Renner later clarified his remarks, releasing a statement on Instagram explaining, "On the issue of gender equality I have always supported women deserving equal pay. Period."
