The 'Longevity Book' author also revealed her pet name for her hubby.
Cameron Diaz thinks her marriage will help her lead a longer, healthier life. The Longevity Book author opened up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show about the benefits of strong relationships.
“I do think that marriage, when you can grow with someone, it’s very important,” the 43-year-old actress said during Thursday’s episode.
And after more than a year of marriage to Good Charlotte rocker, Benji Madden, Diaz says she has learned a lot about herself.
“Someone asked me, ‘What’s your favorite thing about being married?’ and I said, ‘I just learned so much about myself. I didn’t know these things. I would have never known them if I didn’t have my husband to help me,’” she said before quipping, “And they said, ‘What’s the worst thing about being married?’ It’s like, ‘Well, I learned all these things about myself that I wish I didn’t know. And I wouldn’t have learned them if I didn’t get married.’ So it’s like this double-edged sword.”
Though she’s had to face some unexpected truths about herself, Diaz wouldn’t trade it for anything.
“I’m just so grateful for it because I couldn’t do it without my husband, and I couldn’t do it with anybody else except him,” she said.
Later a fan asked if the actress had any pet names for her main squeeze.
“I call him a lot of names,” she teased. “‘Muh-buh’ You know how things start ‘baby’ then to ‘bae’ then it goes to ‘buh’? Soon I’m just going to go ‘uh’ and he’s going to know I’m talking to him.”
The couple married in January 2015 after eight months of dating.
