Welcome to the team, Charlize!
The Fast & Furious cast is a family!
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shared a throwback snap from last year's CinemaCon to welcome his "good bud and all around bad ass Charlize Theron" to the team after it was announced last week that she will play the villain in the upcoming Fast & Furious 8 film.
"When MTV asked her how she felt about coming in and playing the villain, her response was classic and the reason why I love that woman," the 43-year-old actor revealed via Instagram. "She said, "I'm coming to mess that shit up!" #HellYeah #BringIt #FF8 #DaddysGottaGoToWork."
The film is expected to premiere next April, when Theron will take the wheel alongside returning stars Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Vin Diesel, and Jason Statham.
And Johnson's not the only one excited to have Theron on board! Last week, Gibson talked to ET's Katie Krause at the WE Day event in Los Angeles about bringing more "girl power" to the already diverse cast.
"I had to [keep it a secret]," he revealed, after Theron's casting was announced. "What we pride [ourselves on] in The Fast and Furious [franchise] is a very diversified cast that's translating domestically and internationally in a major way."
"When you look at the movie poster and you look to the left, you look to the right, I'm like, 'Fellas, we need some more women in here, man. We got to change this thing up a bit,'" the 37-year-old actor continued. "We have bits and pieces of power women in it, but we needed to bring it up a notch. [We were] looking into the Ronda Rouseys, Michelle Rodriguez has been holding it down since day one, but we got Jordana Brewster and Charlize, we're really stepping it up."
"There's so many powerful women behind the scenes, now we got to get them on the scene," he suggested. "So, Charlize, from [the character he portrays in the movie] Roman Pearce himself -- and girl power herself [my daughter] Shayla Gibson -- welcome to the family!"
It's hard to imagine a warmer welcome than this!
