It's not for nothing she's called divine!
Bette Midler has weighed in with an opinion on #OscarsSoWhite and breaking Leonardo DiCaprio's losing streak in one shade-tastic tweet.
"The Oscars are today! You know, the awards show where Leonardo DiCaprio is 'overdue' but black people can 'wait till next year,'" tweeted the 70-year old actress, who is herself a two-time Academy Award nominee.
The Divine Miss M's tweet refers to two ongoing Oscar controversies: DiCaprio's seeming inability to clinch an actual Academy Award despite six total nominations; and the fact that the Academy failed to nominate anyone of color in the acting categories for a second year in a row.
That latter controversy culminated last year in #OscarsSoWhite when Ava DuVernay and David Oyelowo were shut out of directing and acting nominations for their parts in Selma, despite the film itself being nominated for Best Picture.
The hashtag and the protest has been revived this year as people of color have again been overlooked, despite stellar contributions from non-white actors and directors, including Idris Elba in Beasts of no Nation – for which he won Best Supporting Male at the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday night.

Comedian Chris Rock is hosting the Oscars ceremony on Sunday and is expected to address the #OscarsSoWhite controversy during his monologue. While he's otherwise remained fairly silent about the issue, he did joke on Twitter that the Oscars are the "white BET awards."
