“I am human and at times it can be a struggle to balance a healthy lifestyle. I'm not perfect and for that I am sorry,” the 35-year-old singer wrote. “When we fall we have to get up and keep on walking. I hope you stay by my side and continue to walk with me.”

The tweets mark the first time we’ve heard from the Dancing With the Stars alum since the arrest, but his former bandmate, A.J. McLean, spoke out shortly after Carter's arrest.

“Nick’s dealt with his demons. He’s a good kid,” he said on The Kramer and Geena Morning Show. “He really has been on top of his game, between Dancing With the Stars and getting ready for fatherhood… He really is very, very level headed.”

“You kind of have to laugh at these things, otherwise you’re just going to mope around and hang your head low,” McLean added. At the time, he hadn’t spoken with Carter about the incident.
