Felicity Huffman Praises 'Desperate Housewives' Co-Star Charlie Carver for Coming Out

Felicity Huffman is one proud on-screen mother.

After Charlie Carver came out as gay a few days ago, his Desperate Housewives co-star -- who played his mother Lynette on the popular TV series -- threw her support behind the 27-year-old actor.

"Dear Charlie, I love you. I admire you. I applaud you," Huffman posted to Facebook on Wednesday. "You make me happy to be human. You make me proud to be an actor. Love, your TV Mom, Lynette. And your real life friend, Flicka."

The 53-year-old American Crime actress' kind words were accompanied by a photo of a sign that read: "Be who you needed when you were younger." This was the same sign that Carver shared in his coming out message on Instagram.

"Let the record show this -- I self-identify as gay," he announced. "Does that really matter anymore? As a young man, I needed a young man in Hollywood to say that -- and without being a d*ck about it, I owe it to myself, more than anything, to be who I needed when I was younger."

Before signing off, Charlie gave a shout-out to his twin brother Max Carver, who was also on Desperate Housewives and currently guest starring on Teen Wolf. "And let the record show my twin brother is just as cool for being straight," he wrote.

star Colton Haynes also recently opened up about his sexuality when he responded to a comment on Tumblr. "When I found out Colton Haynes had a secret gay past, I got so excited even though I know it makes absolutely no difference in my life," the comment read.
