Find out what wedding advice President Obama gave the couple.
Stephanie and Brian Tobe’s checklist for their wedding day probably looked something like this: Flowers and a beautiful gown for the bride? Check. Vows and cocktails for the guests? Check. An appearance by the leader of the free world?
Check. The San Diego couple got married at The Lodge at Torrey Pines over the weekend, the same day that President Barack Obama just happened to be playing a round of golf.
“Brian and Stephanie were SO EXCITED that he was there,” wedding photographers Erin and Jeff Youngrens wrote on their blog. “We laughed and joked all morning, and tried to get a peek of him through the curtains, feeling honored just to be at the same location.”

It also just so happened that Stephanie and Brian’s wedding was set to take place on the 18th hole, so their guests were all outside and able to watch Obama play. Then the president surprised everyone by coming over to say hello and shake some hands. (“He has a GREAT handshake,” the Youngrens say.)
Meanwhile, Stephanie and Brian were stuck inside, doing their final touches before they were supposed to say “I do.” But Stephanie wasn’t about to let the opportunity to meet the president pass her by. "I picked up my wedding dress and just started running down the hall," she told NBC San Diego.

And she made it just in time. "When I was running up to him, I just started crying,” she recalled. “I was in a state of complete shock."
“President Obama was kind and wonderful," the Youngrens say. "When he shook Brian and Stephanie’s hands, he apologized for delaying the ceremony and then shared some advice with Brian."
So what wedding advice do you get from the president? Stephanie reveals, "He specifically told my husband Brian not to step on my dress.”
