The actor took to Twitter to share a cordial message of gratitude.
It's nice to see that Ben Affleck isn’t letting his divorce deter him from his political interests or social causes.
Affleck broke his Twitter silence on Monday with a cordial tweet at Secretary of State John Kerry, thanking him for appointing Former U.S. Representative Thomas Perriello as the Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region of Africa.
.@JohnKerry Thx for appointing Tom Perriello as Special Envoy, Africa Great Lakes & #DRC. @EasternCongo partners look fwd to working w/ him.

WATCH: Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner Split, Announce Divorce After 10 Years
The 42-year-old Oscar winner had been staying off social media since news of his divorce from Jennifer Garner -- his wife of 10 years -- broke on June 30.
However, Affleck has long had an interest in America's foreign policy and political relationship with Africa, and even founded the Eastern Congo Initiative in 2010, so it makes sense that he would want to share his thoughts on the appointment.
Perriello responded to the actor's kind tweet, thanking Affleck and Kerry for their "tireless efforts to draw attention to the region."
@BenAffleck @JohnKerry @EasternCongo Thanks for your tireless efforts to draw attention to the region.
