Giuliana Rancic Admits She's 'Really Thin': It's Hard for Me to Look in the Mirror

The TV personality says that the speculation surrounding her thin frame has "gotten out of hand."

Giuliana Rancic
feels the speculation surrounding her thin frame has "gotten out of hand," but does admit that it's not totally unwarranted.

The Fashion Police co-host tells People that she finds all the comments regarding her size "hurtful" and blames a cancer-suppressing medication for why she looks so frail to some viewers at home. "I'm sorry that some people think I'm disgustingly skinny, as they put it, but there's nothing I can do," she says. "I'm lucky that I even have the type of cancer that reacts to the medicine."

In 2011, Rancic was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. "Some people were saying, 'The cancer is probably back,'" the 40-year-old TV personality recalls of her critics. "And they were accusing me of every eating disorder. I thought to myself, 'God, if someone really thought I had an eating disorder, what a horrible way to approach it.'"

Rancic insists that she eats. "I eat more than any of my friends," she says. "I eat a very robust, healthy, balanced diet and dessert almost every night. I'm not hiding from anything."

That all being said, Rancic does admit that she's too thin. "I look in the mirror and it's hard for me. I am really thin. I want to look fit and beautiful and sexy, and I can't," she tells the magazine. "I never want my weight to distract people from what I do, but it is becoming a distraction, [whenever] I wear something sleeveless, show my arms, my back."

Keeping a positive outlook, the TV host adds, "I refuse to be broken. I have so many beautiful things in my life."
