Get well soon: The 39-year-old 'Unbroken' director is under the weather.
In an unexpected turn of events, Angelina Jolie announced Friday that she has a mild case of chicken pox, forcing her to miss scheduled Unbroken events in the coming days – including the L.A. premiere on Dec. 15.
Seen wearing a simple white tank, minimal makeup and her hair let down, the 39-year-old Unbroken director personally delivered the message in a new video.
“I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days, which is, I found last night that I have chicken pox,” Angelina said in the video message posted by Universal Pictures.

“I will be home itching and missing everyone, and I can’t believe it because this film means so much to me… I can’t believe it!” she said, laughing at the timing. “But such is life. There it is. I send everyone my love and hope everything goes well.”
The news comes just one day after Unbroken, centered on Olympian Louis Zamperini’s incredible life, failed to score Golden Globe nominations, though it did land on AFI’s Top 10 Films of the Year and National Board of Review’s Top 10 Films lists. This also follows revelations from the Sony hack where she was called “a spoiled brat” by top executives.
Despite this drama, though, 2014 has been an amazing and huge year for the actress. Angelina recently spoke to People about her biggest accomplishment over the year, and it wasn’t her August wedding to Brad Pitt or starring in and producing her Disney hit Maleficent.

"My son [Maddox] became a teenager," she said of her eldest child turning 13 years old. "That was a marker in my year."
"More than anything, like any mom, I'm just happy the kids are healthy," she added. "I married their dad. My health is good."

Back in November, she told DuJour magazine that she “absolutely” planned on retiring from acting and focusing on stepping behind the camera on a more regular basis.
