This weekend's Stand Up To Cancer telethon raised more than $109 million in pledges for cancer research. ET was on the carpet at the star-studded event as celebs shared their personal and powerful stories.

Comedian Dane Cook was hit hard when both his parents died of cancer in the same year. 

"It was brutal going through that with my folks," Dane shared with us, "Tonight is just bringing a larger spotlight to a very dire situation."

Mad Men actor Jon Hamm is another celebrity affected when his mom passed away at age 35 from colon cancer.

He told ET, "There's too many moms and too many dads and too many people that are dying of this horrible horrible disease and this is the way you cure it."

Katie Couric hosted the telecast and has been a powerful voice behind cancer awareness, specifically colon cancer, after the loss of her first husband in 1998.

"Hopefully what this means is that we'll get the funding that they so desperately need to come up with better treatments and hopefully one day a cure," Katie told ET.
