Instead, the troubled star is being treated for alcoholism.

"Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction," the rep said in a statement to ET.

This movie follows Shia's Broadway arrest on Thursday. The 28-year-old Transformers star was escorted out of a performance of Cabaret at Studio 54 and charged with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct.

"He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery," said the rep.

Shia has made no secret about his struggles with alcohol in the past -- specifically, that he doesn't know how to have just one drink.

"We would drink together and smoke together and it's just a bad deal," he told Details magazine in 2008 about his complicated relationship with his father, an ex heroin addict. "It's not something that is conducive to being a role model -- no iconic actors that I know of have problems like that. And I don't know how to do it like a gentleman. I don't know how to have one drink."
