According to a police statement, the charge stems from an alleged altercation involving a limousine driver that took place Monday, December 30. The police report goes on to allege that a man struck the limousine driver on the back of the head several times while the driver was transporting the man and five other people from a nightclub to a hotel.
Bieber is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, March 10.

"We anticipate that this matter will be treated as a summary offense, the equivalent of a misdemeanor in the United States," Bieber's reps said in a statement to ET. "Our position is that Mr. Bieber is innocent."
Bieber was released from custody that evening.
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old singer's manager Scooter Braun tweeted:

Bieber has also taken to social media following his arrest, but has yet to mention his run-in with the law. He instead has been promoting his music video Confident, which was released on the same day that he was taken into custody in Canada.
Bieber's father Jeremy later tweeted on Thursday morning:

This all follows Bieber's arrest on a DUI charge in Miami last week where he was also charged with resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired license. He has pled not guilty to the DUI, and his arraignment date has been set for February 14.
