"I really needed a change. There's just a lot going on in my family, a lot of stress and negative attention. So, this is just part of that positive reset button."
Among the many happenings in his always-bustling family, Kardashian's mother, Kris, and stepfather, Bruce, officially announced their separation on Monday, and his sister Khloé's marriage is rumored to be on the rocks with husband Lamar Odom amid his purported struggles with drug addiction.
"Honestly, you do not listen to half the things [that are said] 'cause most of the time 90 percent of 'em aren't even true, but it still has an effect on you," he admitted. "Even with myself: People say all these negative things about my weight gain when I'm just trying to fix myself and better myself."

The 26-year-old, who appears on his family's reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, maintains that he and his family members deflect the criticism they routinely receive even though it can have effect on them.
"With my whole family, we all are very...thick-skinned, where...you got to just not listen to the haters 'cause everyone wants to bring you down, no matter what industry you're in," he said.
As for what he can control, Kardashian is dedicated to becoming healthier and shedding some of the weight he put on in the past year. Part of his rejuvenation has consisted of growing his hair out, which he's supplemented by taking the hair-growth tablet Viviscal.
