Exclusive: Jordin Spreads Grandparents Day Love
This Sunday marks Grandparents Day, a nationally recognized holiday dating back to 1978. To celebrate the occasion, American Idol winner Jordin Sparks is giving a shout out to her incomparable Nana and Papa in an exclusive video for ETonline readers.
In the sweet recording for Caring Across Generations' campaign supporting the September 8 holiday, the 23-year-old singer fondly reminisces about the unwavering support Jim and Pam Wiedmann provided for a young, music-obsessed Sparks.

"My Nana is one of the main reasons I 'm doing what I'm doing now," she explains, smiling. "When I was younger, she used to take me to everything. She used to take me to sing in church, she used to take me to every competition, and even when those competitions turned national, she would take me there."
In 2007, a then-17 Sparks became the youngest person to ever win Idol. For the feat, she gives mounds of credit to her grandfather for his persistent encouragement to "sing everywhere," particularly Martina McBride's Broken Wing.
The country single was performed during the reality competition at a time she dubs "a turning point" on the FOX stage.
