Nick Carter is a taken man!

The Backstreet Boys singer revealed to People magazine Friday that he recently popped the big question to his girlfriend Lauren Kitt during a trip to the Florida Keys.

In the company of close friends, Carter dropped down to one knee to the utter shock of his overjoyed lady love.

"I wasn't expecting it. It just felt very surreal," said Kitt. "We both are just so happy in love right now and on cloud nine."

Carter says the romantic spot, an island he used to visit as a child, has now been dubbed "Engagement Island."

As for their wedding date, the couple told People they're still working out a date that doesn't conflict with recording BSB's new album or their sold-out fan cruise in October.
