Brooke Shields' Mother Dies
Teri Shields, Brooke Shields' mother and manager, died in Manhattan last Wednesday after what is reported as a long illness, including dementia, The New York Times reports.
She was 79 years old.
Teri was a single mother and began managing Brooke's career when she was just 11 months old, when she found her her first job advertising Dove soap. Brooke's controversial roles soon followed, including 1978's Pretty Baby where she played a teenage prostitute, and her provocative Calvin Klein jeans ad ("Nothing comes between me and my Calvins").

"When she was born Brooke looked like a beautiful doll," Teri told People. "I couldn't believe she was mine."
However, the relationship between mother and daughter wasn't always smooth.
"I grew up in an alcoholic household," Brooke told The New York Times in 1994. "I'm the caretaker who wants to make everything better, and you can just do that for so long, or so I've been told."
