Stars Align for AIDS Research

The stars took a night away from their busy schedules and used their celebrity influence towards a good cause on Thursday as they came together for AIDS research with amfAR for its inspirational gala.

As the celebrities united to help raise awareness and funds for a cure for AIDS, they also honored prominent entertainment agent Kevin Huvane, who was presented the Piaget's Award of Inspiration by Sarah Jessica Parker, who was one of his first clients in the business.

"[Kevin] brought attention to Los Angeles in a packed community with a lot of need and people scrambling to tell the story of their own organizations, and I think it's really important that Kevin be recognized for making this such an important night in Los Angeles," the former Sex and the City actress said.

The event was hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler and featured a special performance from Katy Perry. All funds that were raised from the night's various festivities benefit amfAR's AIDS research programs.

"AIDS research is something that we cannot afford to push to the backburner because it's still a problem throughout the world," said The Help actress Octavia Spencer.

"An event like this tonight is critical," fashion designer Kenneth Cole added, "because we have come so far in this battle against HIV/AIDS but we're not there. We know how to contain it; we know how to keep ourselves safe, but we have not yet found a cure...Tonight, with the extraordinary generous access to celebrity...a lot comes from it and everybody has fun doing it."
