Lady Gaga understands why Selena Gomez would need to take some time away from the limelight.
While on 103.5 KTU, the 30-year-old star is asked what she thinks of Gomez, 24, deciding to take a break from her career to deal with anxiety, depression and panic attacks caused by her lupus.

"I would say that fame is very isolating," Gaga says. "[It] takes a moment for you to stabilize yourself, especially if you’re really in it for the music or for your craft, because it can be a distraction from all of those things."
The "Perfect Illusion" singer admits that being a celebrity can alter how an artist thinks about their job. "Suddenly, it’s about keeping up with your career," she says. "Or keeping up with number ones, or being on top."

Gaga confides that she even took a step back before working on her latest music. "With this record, I just tried to spend the last three years re-calibrating myself," she explains. "So that I could have human connection with people all over the world that maybe didn’t think that they could ever have a connection with somebody like [me]."
