Prince is about to (purple) rain down some new music.
The 56-year-old music icon announced that he's releasing not one, but two studio albums on Sept. 30 in the U.S. Art Official Album will be a solo project for Prince, while Plectrumelectrum will be released by his band 3rdEyeGirl.

Both albums will be sold separately and are available for pre-order on ArtOfficialAge.com. "Prince is one of just a handful of visionary artists who have truly reshaped and redefined modern music and culture," Warner Bros. Records Chairman and CEO, Cameron Strang, said. "For the past 35 years, he has never stopped evolving, challenging himself, reinventing his sound, and pushing boundaries."
"In true Prince fashion, he has just given us not one, but two extraordinary albums that express the incredible range and depth of his talent. All of us at WBR are immensely proud to be working with Prince to bring this brilliant new music to his legions of fans around the world, and needless to say we are thrilled to be working in partnership with him again."

So which album is for you? If you like classic Prince, his solo record Art Official Age was produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince himself and Joshua Welton, like several of his other projects.
Meanwhile, 3rdEyeGirl's release was "recorded live on the Hit & Run tours of the UK earlier this year."
