The announcement, made Tuesday, also included the revelation that the movie will also be released in 3D.

Mulan is just one of the latest animated properties being given the live-action treatment after Maleficent, The Jungle Book, Cinderalla and more. The live-action Beauty and the Beast is set to open March 17.
Based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, Disney's original 1998 animated movie followed the daughter of an aged warrior who takes her father's place in the military by disguising herself as a man. In the film, Mulan goes on to become a national hero and one of the most skilled warriors in the army.
No one is attached yet to play Mulan, as Disney is launching a global casting search for a Chinese actress to play the role.
