Robert Pattinson is set to star in a lot of big name franchise reboots, if the rumors are to be believed. It's been speculated recently that Pattinson could be playing Han Solo in the possible upcoming Star Wars spin-off, or that he could take over as Indy in the rumored Indiana Jones prequel/reboot. Both projects sound like they could be amazing.
However, prepare to be disappointed. According to Pattinson himself, both of those rumors are totally false. But it did get us thinking about other sci-fi classics he might be perfect for…

'MAD MAX'
Why It Would Rock: Pattinson is currently starring in The Rover, a 'post-apocalyptic' crime story set in the Australian outback a decade after the fall of organized society, where one man is looking to get revenge on a violent gang of outlaws. Mad Max is also all of those things. It would be an easy transition for Pattinson to make, and this time he would get to be the badass shotgun-toting hero.
Why It (Probably) Won't Happen: Because they are already making Mad Max and it's set to star Tom Hardy. Tom Hardy is great and all, but he's Tom Hardy. Nothing can hurt him. Pattinson, on the other hand, could bring just the right amount of vulnerability to the role to make us legitimately fear for his character.

'DUNE'
Why It Would Rock: Back in 2009, Battleship director Peter Berg was actually attached to helm a remake of the acclaimed sci-fi book Dune, and according to people "in the know" – meaning people who probably don't actually know anything – Pattinson was set to star. The role requires someone who can play brave, noble, aristocratic and fierce all while looking young. He would have been perfect for it!
Why It (Probably) Won't Happen: Dune is one of those cursed projects. Many directors have tried and failed to bring the book to life with little success. And yes, I'm including the way-too-long 1984 David Lynch movie. It's just too big of a project to ever make well.

'HIGHLANDER'
Why It Would Rock: "There can only be one!" Highlander is about a centuries-old battle between a slew of immortal warriors who hunt each other through different ages in history. It would give Pattinson the chance to rock a wide-range of weird costumes, and have some light-hearted fun in between the dramatic films he's constantly taking on to try and get as far away from Twilight as possible.
Why It (Probably) Won't Happen: Because the first Highlander didn't do well in theaters. That's just the economics of it. It would likely be a big, expensive blockbuster and Pattinson would also have to bulk up a lot just to carry they giant battle swords those immortal assassins fling around.

'CYBORG'
Why It Would Rock: Cyborg was a lesser-known Jean-Claude Van Damme action film from 1989 that was the most '1989' thing that ever existed. In the film, the world has been destroyed by a virus and a bodyguard/mercenary must escort a young woman who possesses the cure through an urban jungle of killers and psychopaths. It would just be nice to see Pattinson get to bust out some martial arts and adapt a role originally meant for Van Damme.
Why It (Probably) Won't Happen: There's no good reason it shouldn't happen. It would be an awesome movie, and Pattinson playing a guy defending a young woman from violent evil psychos is something he's done before. All he would have to do is bulk up a bit and then learn martial arts.

'BLADE RUNNER'
Why It Would Rock: The original follows a cop, played by Harrison Ford, whose job is to find and "retire" escaped robots that look like real people. It's all about what makes us human, and it's one of the most celebrated sci-fi films of all time. It would be a chance for Pattinson to not only prove himself and to reinvent himself, but also for a way to bring a new kind of blood and energy into Scott's proposed film. Also, since all these rumors seem to revolve around Pattinson remaking Harrison Ford movies, it fits right in!
Why It (Probably) Won't Happen: Because the movie itself probably isn't going to happen. It's been planned for years and the original came out in 1982, 32 years ago. Plus, Scott apparently wants to cast Ford again, because apparently he didn't pay attention to his own movie.
