Michael Bay's upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has caused a lot of skepticism among long-time fans and TMNT obsessives. However, these newly-released – and honestly pretty awesome – posters may be an indication that this new Turtles project could be trying to venture into the gritty roots of the characters' origins.
While the titular Turtles might best be known for their fun cartoons and dated-but-endearing catchphrases, the comic that gave life to them was a dark, gritty, and violent tale meant for adults. And true TMNT fans have always loved how these radical reptiles worked so well, both when done dramatically and done with a sense of humor.
These cool new one-sheets, featuring all four of the Turtles and their mortal enemy Shredder, are made to look like Bansky-esque street art, giving them an edgier look that could indicate it's going to be an darker film.
TMNT hits theaters August 8, 2014. In the meantime, click through the gallery to check out all the rad new posters…
