Katie Couric Returning to NBC to Co-Host Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in PyeongChang

This will be the anchor's fourth opening ceremony, where she'll be joined by first time co-host Mike Tirico at the Winter Games.

Katie Couric is headed to PyeongChang!

The former Today show co-anchor is returning to NBC to co-host the Olympic Opening Ceremony for the fourth time at this year's Winter Games in the South Korean city. She'll be joined by first time co-host Mike Tirico.

"Very excited to host the #winterolympics #openingceremony with @miketirico!! #PyeongChang2018@nbcolympics @nbcsports #brrrrrr," Couric shared on her social media.

"It’s beyond exciting to welcome Katie back to our Olympic booth. Katie has extensive Olympic experience, having anchored the Today show at six previous Games, and hosted the Opening Ceremony in Sydney, Salt Lake City, and Athens,” NBC Olympic programming CEO Jim Bell said in a statement. “With Mike and Katie, viewers will have two pros, and two terrific storytellers leading the way."

For this year's coverage, NBC has announced the opening ceremony will be live-streamed for the first time on NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app. Live-streaming for the Games will begin on Friday, Feb. 9 at 6 a.m. ET.

NBC's primetime coverage of the 2018 Games begins on Feb. 8.
