"That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period."
JAY-Z and Solange Knowles have put the past behind them.
The 47-year-old rapper and Beyonce's younger sister made headlines in 2014 when surveillance footage from a hotel elevator was leaked, which showed Solange lunging at her brother-in-law just moments after they attended the Met Gala in New York City.
"We had one disagreement ever -- before and after we’ve been cool," JAY-Z told Rap Radar hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller of the infamous footage. "She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period."

The hip-hop mogul further insisted that he and Solange have "always had a great relationship."
“I fought my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life," he continued. "It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space -- but it ain’t nothing."

The elevator incident recently became a topic of discussion again on social media after the release of JAY-Z's album, 4:44. While at the Standard Hotel, where the altercation took place, one fan noted on Twitter: "THE ADDRESS IS 444. I AM SHOOK."
"444 W 13th Street," the Twitter user added. "4:44 IS ALSO HIS 13th STUDIO ALBUM."
