"Zayn is one of the most exciting personalities on the world stage right now," Donatella Versace said in a press release. “When we first met, he told me how much he loves fashion. I thought it would be fantastic to collaborate on a new Versus collection together. And, given Zayn's huge fan base around the world, I expect there will be a lot of excitement about what we create together."
"I think Versus has always been a very cool brand," Malik offered. "I've always wanted to design clothes, and there's no brand I'd rather design for than Versus. The bonus is that I get to collaborate with Donatella, whom I love and admire. I know we'll create something amazing."
The 23-year-old singer also expressed his excitement on Instagram.
"Thank you @donatella_versace for welcoming me into the @versus_versace family !" he captioned a black-and-white snap of himself and Donatella on Wednesday.

Malik's foray into the fashion world is hardly a surprise. In fact, the "Pillowtalk" singer opened up about his future as a designer in the August issue of GQ.
"I'm being very, like, blessed at the minute by God or whoever it is, fate or whatever, so um, there's a lot of offers [coming my] way at the minute with different things to do with fashion," he revealed. "And hopefully I get involved in all of them."
In addition to his fashion collaborations, Malik is also heading to television, developing a show inspired by his time in One Direction.
