Janet Jackson makes a rare public appearance.

On the same day that Beyonce flawlessly channeled her on Halloween, Janet Jackson made a surprising red carpet appearance on Friday -- her first in over a year -- at the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience in the United Arab Emirates.
Sporting a fitted, long-sleeve black dress, the 48-year-old singer wore her hair in a super-high ponytail, showing off her killer cheekbones.

Her makeup artist, Preston Meneses, also posted this cute selfie of the two, highlighting Janet's arched eyebrows.
"Such a wonderful time here in #Dubai with my sis ? painted by me #makeupartist #prestonmakeup #vogue #voguedubai #makeup #makeupforever #janetjackson," he wrote.
According to Celebuzz, Janet also attended the event with her husband, billionaire Wissam Al Mana, a Qatari fashion tycoon, whom she wed in 2012.
Janet's last public appearance was at amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS Gala, all the way back in May 2013.
