The stars of television say goodbye to Robin Williams.
Billy Crystal paid a heartfelt, emotional, and funny tribute to his fallen friend Robin Williams, during the In Memoriam segment at Monday's Emmys.
Remembering the comedy great, Crystal said, "He made us laugh, hard, every time you saw him," continuing, "His brilliance was outstanding, his relentless energy was thrilling."
Crystal even managed to get a laugh out of the audience, poking fun at Williams' lack of knowledge about baseball, but getting serious to say, "As genius as he was on stage, he was the greatest friend you could ever imagine."
"It's very hard to talk about him in the past because he was so present in all of our lives. For almost 40 years, he was the brightest star in the comedy galaxy," Crystal said.
Remembering his friend, and all the other comedians who passed before him, and continuing the star analogy, Crystal said of them, "The glow will be so bright, it will warm your heart, it will make your eyes glisten, and you'll think to yourself, 'Robin Williams, what a concept!'"
The In Memoriam segment also featured Sara Bareilles delivering a moving rendition of Smile to pay tribute to the many notables who passed away in the past year, including Maya Angelou, Casey Kasem, Lauren Bacall, James Garner, Peter O'Toole and Mickey Rooney.
